leading as an ordinary doctor

I often see myself as very ordinary. I don’t feel especially gifted or talented, and I don’t naturally think of myself as a leader. If people follow me, I usually assume it’s because they’re following someone else alongside me, not because of me.

Yet somehow, God has placed me in a position where I am leading many through redefineD. I often wrestle with wanting to let go—to pass the torch to someone I believe is more capable, more talented, more charismatic, someone who fits my image of what a true leader should be.

But God continues to remind me that my strength as a leader has never been rooted in my abilities. It is rooted in my willingness to follow Jesus Christ. My greatest qualification is not talent, but surrender. It is in following Him that He gives me the wisdom, strength, peace, and courage to lead.

That realization allows me to remain where He has placed me. Instead of shrinking back or looking for someone “better,” I can embrace the calling He has given me and move forward with the passion, energy, love, and purpose He has placed within me.

Life is short. There is still so much to do. As long as He calls me to lead, I want to do so faithfully—not because I believe in myself, but because I believe in the One who called me.
